Obituary for Keith W. Webb

Keith W. Webb, 81, of Canon City, died February 15, 2013, in Canon City. He was born May 17, 1931, near Guymon, Oklahoma, to Cecil E. and Maudie L. (Weatherford) Webb.
He graduated from high school in Dalhart. Texas, in 1949 and in 1950 married Betty June Wiebe who survives. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1973 when he retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He served at a number of bases in the U.S. as well as permanent duty tours of Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines and temporary duty in Guam, France, and North Africa. Among his awards and decorations are the Air Force Commendation Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one bronze oak leaf, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with three bronze loops, and the AF Small Arms Expert ribbon. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, The Retired Enlisted Association, and the NRA.
After retirement from the Air Force he moved his family to Canon City, where his children graduated from school and where he worked for 12 years as a motel maintenance supervisor for Ascot Inns and Select Hotels. For most of the remaining time until full retirement, he was self-employed as a furniture and cabinet maker. He was a member of the Canon City church of Christ for many years and served the congregation as an elder, song leader, missions coordinator and Bible teacher. In his later years he came to understand that the true church, the body of Christ, the ekkesia of God, is not confined to or represented by any one sectarian or denominational organization. He loved music, reading, fixing things, and being at home with his wife and children. His special joy was his grandchildren. In retirement he found much satisfaction in researching his own and his wife’s genealogies and in making music with friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children; Cindy (Steve) Hurt of Parker, Colorado, and Melanie (Craig) Jackson of Rosebud, Texas; three grandchildren, Megan Hurt, Amanda Hurt and Rachel Hurt; a sister, Lynne (Tom) Hill of Aurora, CO, sisters-in-law Naomi Webb and Phebe Paolino of Canon City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Cecil E. Webb and Kenneth L. Webb.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday February 18, 2013 at Holt Chapel of the Garden with good friend Randy Foshee officiating. Interment will follow services at Lakeside Cemetery.
