Letha Belle Hood Latham of Cotopaxi, Colorado passed away June 24, 2013 at Columbine Manor in Salida, Colorado at the age of 101. Letha was the daughter of George and Maude Griffin Hood, born November 1, 1911 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Letha married Wilbur Clyde Latham December 24, 1928. She and Clyde homesteaded north of Cotopaxi, Colorado in 1934 along with Clyde’s parents. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working on their ranch. Clyde preceded her in death in 1991. Letha is survived by daughters Mary Smittle of Columbus, Kansas and Wanda Anderson of Canon City, Colorado. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frankie Ridgeway of Hurt, Virginia and an infant son, Bill Latham. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Jim Smittle, John Smittle, George Anderson, Peggy Anderson, Betty Jo Eggleson, Roger Ridgeway, Fred Ridgeway, Teresa Wade and Bill Ridgeway. Two grandchildren, Elmer Anderson and Francie Anderson, preceded her in death. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Close friend and caregiver, John Gust, also survives.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at Holt Chapel of the Garden in Canon City. Graveside services will be held at the Cotopaxi Cemetery on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
