Obituary for Netha Mae Hemmert

Netha Mae Hemmert went home on 10/10/2013. She passed peacefully at her home in Manassa CO surrounded by her loved ones following a courageous lengthy battle with cancer which she fought with grace and dignity. Netha was born in Oakley Kansas on January 13, 1931.
Surviving family members are Daughter, Jackie (Richard Martin), Son, Rex Hemmert (Chris); Grandchildren Shannon Roberts (Chuck Moore), Rex Amicone, Jared Hemmert (Mandy) and Colleen Hemmert; seven great children: Cheyenne & Jack Roberts, Hunter Moore; Adrianna and Nina Amicone; and Lincoln & Tess Hemmert; Extended family members 7 step grandchildren and 22 step great children.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years Jack Hemmert; Her brothers Roy, & Don Eastman, and Sister Bonnie Knoblauch, and parents William and Violet Eastman.
Her life Journey began in Oakley Kansas, marrying at age 18 and farming in Gove County Kansas, from there they moved to Salida CO purchasing the Victoria Hotel, Bar and Used Furniture store and later purchasing a farm in Poncha Springs CO. She started a 30 year career with Mountain Bell and retiring from AT&T while living in Calhan CO. Upon retirement they moved to Canon City CO. Following the passing of her spouse and failing health she moved to Salida, CO. for a time, ending her Journey in Manassa CO. She was a famous gardener, loved to crochet, cook and bake. Most important to her was her family and she loved us so much.
Visitation at 9:00 a.m., Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., prior to the Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Canon City, Colorado.
