Donald Lee Enlow, 96, passed away December 17, 2015 in Canon City, Colorado. Don was born in Kansas City, Missouri, October 19, 1919 to Louis James Enlow and Sarah Catherine Sandbrook Enlow. His family moved to Colorado Springs in1922 when Don was two. Don attended Colorado Springs Public Schools and graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1937. Don and Inez Christianson were married in Pueblo at Tabor Lutheran Church on March 23, 1941. He served in WWII as a medic with the 710th Tank Battalion in the South Pacific Theater where he received the Silver Star for evacuating several wounded soldiers under intense fire on the island of Angaur, Palau Islands in 1944.
Don worked for Schultz Auto, George Beck Auto, Alexander Film Company, Clifton Precision, and retired from Pikes Peak Community College in 1982 where he was the Maintenance Supervisor. After retiring, Don and Inez traveled the US and wintered in Quartzsite, Arizona for many years.
In 1972, he moved to Divide, CO, where he and Inez built their dream home. In 1983, he moved to Canon City.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Inez Enlow; daughters, Kathy Lambert of Pueblo and Donna (Jack) Bogusch of Canon City; and a sister, Lois Ball of Amarillo, TX. His grandchildren are Shari (Jon) Lambert Thorne, Kevin (Laura) Bogusch, and Robert Bogusch. Great grandchildren are Austin and Caitlan Thorne, Josh and Kenzie Bogusch. He also is survived by three nieces and two nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held January 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Canon Community Baptist Church, 1111 Monroe Avenue, Canon City, CO. Inurnment will be at Mountain Vale Memorial Park.
