Obituary for Nancy Ann Thacker

Nancy Ann Thacker, 78 of Round Rock, Texas; Formerly of Canon City, Colorado; passed away peacefully on November 3, 2016. She was born on February 23, 1938 in Canon City and graduated from Canon City High School in 1956. On October 12, 1968, Nancy married William (Bill) Thacker. Nancy enjoyed raising three daughters, volunteering in the schools and serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. Nancy had a great love for gardening; anyone who knew her knew that you could always find her in her yard. Her deep love for gardening will carry on in her daughters.
Nancy served on the Canon City school board from 1981 to 1985. She discovered a new talent while working at a travel agency and enjoyed working in the travel industry for more than 20 years. One of her favorite things was “Candy Cane Lane”, which she helped create and develop into a wonderful tradition in her neighborhood in Canon City. She thoroughly enjoyed all the people who not only set it up but all those who traveled to enjoy it every holiday season.
Nancy is survived by her daughters Marlinda Williams of Round Rock, Texas, Janelle & Mike Anderson of La Verne, California, Gayanne and Randy Scott of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren Alexandra Verbich, Ashley Williams, Stephen and Stephanie Scott, and great grandson Damian Rosa. Nieces Carrie Ary, Johnna Montoya, Shawna Hanenberg, and her nephew Rod St. Michel along with several great nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father Allen Newcomb, her mother Dorothy Searcy, her husband, William E. (Bill) Thacker, and her sisters, Marilyn (Mame) St. Michel, and Linda Schmallen.
The family will be holding a celebration of Nancy’s life at Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, Colorado on December 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
