Obituary for Sharon K. Young (Garrett)

Sharon K. Young (Garrett)
Sharon Kay (Garrett) Young passed away February 21, 2017 at the age of 73. Sharon was born on July 31, 1943 to Cecil and Eileen Garrett in Canon City, CO. Sharon married John (Jack) Young on August 18, 1961 and had three children, John, Rhonda and Brenda.
Earlier in their marriage, Sharon and Jack enjoyed many camping trips with their siblings and families. Later, they opted for more comfortable lodgings in a 5th wheeler. Jack was an amazing artist who built beautiful houses for their family and as a business. Sharon was at his side with every endeavor he attempted. Sharon and Jack flipped a few houses years before it was popular.
Sharon had a passion for games. She and Jack would get up early in the morning and play card games before he went to work. One of her favorite pastimes was bowling; she participated in various leagues with family and friends for over 40 years. There was always a game to be played if you visited Sharon’s home whether cards, Scrabble, or Yahtzee.
Sharon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt who always took care of others. She was always there to help anyone in need and she opened her home on many occasions when others needed a place to stay.
Sharon is survived by two of her children, John, of Phoenix AZ, Brenda (Frank) Parmer, of Willis TX; six grandchildren, Heather, Allyson, Kristain, Amanda, Zachary, Chanel; five great-grandchildren, Valencia, Matthew, Kadence (“Kadie”), Ronnie, Cloey; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is also survived by two siblings, Merlin and Maxine (Carl). Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Jack Young; her daughter, Rhonda Dotson; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
